2021-2022 Continuing Student Housing Reapplication and Room Selection Process

Welcome, current UNC Asheville students! We are excited that you are choosing to stay on-campus, or return to campus, for the upcoming academic year.

Housing Application Process for Current Residential Students

The deadline to select housing is 11:59 pm on Wednesday, March 31st. To select by the deadline, students must have reapplied for housing by 4 pm on March 31st.

Current residential students can reapply for 2021-2022 housing, beginning March 1st.

On March 1st, please log into One Port, select “Campus Housing”, “Housing Portal”, and under “Continuing Student Process”, choose “apply for on-campus housing.”

Please note: A new version of Safari, realeased in September 2020, is not compatible with our housing software. Please use Google Chrome to complete your housing application and subsequent room selection.

Details and Deadlines

  • The reapplication process will begin on March 1.
  • Students who want to retain their current room, can do so at the time of reapplication. Please note that some rooms are not eligible for retention.
  • Room selection will begin March 15. Students who do not select a room during the selection period will not be guaranteed housing for the 2021-2022 academic year.

Re-Application Process

  • In order to participate in room selection, all students must have a completed housing application on file. Applications completed by March 12, will receive an email from our office with your room/meal plan selection time.
  • Applications received after March 12, will be reviewed on a space-available basis.
  • Log in to your OnePort account and select “On Campus”  and then “Housing Portal” on the left side of the page. Under the “Continuing Student Process, select “Apply for Campus Housing”.
  • Follow the instructions on each page and use the navigation button at the bottom of each page to progress to the next. Once your application has been successfully submitted, you will receive an email to your UNC Asheville email address. You can update your housing application until room selection begins. After that, no further updates can be made to your application.

What Happens Next?

  • All students with a completed application by March 12 will receive an email with your designated selection time.
  • Your selection time is your first and best opportunity to assign yourself to a room.
  • Students who do not participate in the room selection, will have their application cancelled.

Current off-campus students, who wish to live on campus for the 2021-2022 academic year, can apply for housing beginning February 15th.

On February 15, please log into One Port, select “Campus Housing”, “Housing Portal”, and under “Continuing Student Process”, choose “apply for campus housing.”

Room Selection Process

Room Selection for the 2021-2022 academic year will begin on March 15. Students will receive an email about selection times before selection begins. Your designated selection time is your first and best opportunity to obtain the space you are hoping for.

Room Selection

  • Once you have selected a room, you will receive an email with your housing assignment and the name of your roommate, if one has already selected into the room. You can view your assignment and roommate information at any time by logging into OnePort, selecting “Housing Portal”, “Profile Information”, and “View My Roommate(s).”
  • Students who submit a housing application and do not participate in selection of a room will have their application cancelled. Once you have an assignemnt, all charges associated with breach of contract will be enforced. Learn more about breach of contract.
  • Once you have selected your room, or the Housing Office selects a room for you, you are bound to the terms and conditions of the Housing Contract. Any cancellation of your contract for an unapproved reason will result in breach of contract and other charges. Learn more about cancellation of your housing assignment.

Selecting a Roommate/Suite Mate

During room selection, you will be able to see student information, including name, age, and the answers to their roommate preference questions, of students who are already assigned to a bed space and/or suite, to assist you in choosing a roommate. If you are trying to live with a current student, please verify with the student that they have a current vacancy in their room/suite. You can then search by available spaces in the room/suite. Please keep in mind that other students are going through the room selection process, and can assign themselves to any available space on campus, that is open to them during selection.

Room Changes

You will have the opportunity to change rooms until new student room selection begins. The deadline to change a room is 11:59 pm June 30.


Meal Plan Selection

  • During the room selection process, you will also be required to select a meal plan. All residential students, with the exception of those living in The Woods, are required to have a meal plan.
  • You will have the opportunity to change your meal plan until midnight on the 3rd day of classes. More information will be sent to you regarding meal plan changes.
