Information for Residents
- All First-Year students are required to live on campus for their first academic year, including dual-enrolled and early college participants. To apply for housing, you must have completed your Enrollment Form with the Office of Admission & Financial Aid.
- First-Year students can live in any of our residence halls, with the exception of the Woods or the Village.
- Current continuing students can apply for either academic year housing (August-May) or year-round housing (May-May). See the information below for more details.

Year-Round Housing
Year-round housing is available in Aspen Hall, located in The Woods, for the entire academic year, inclusive of winter and summer breaks. The year-round contract period is May-to-May, and students can apply during the annual housing application period in early spring starting February 15.
Year-round housing is only available to current continuing students. Students are required to be enrolled full-time for the semesters of their residency (with the exception of summer, provided they are enrolled as full-time students for the following fall semester). Students who need to remain on campus during break periods for reasons such as off-campus employment, summer internships, or other situations, are encouraged to consider being a year-round resident.
Meal Plan Selection
All residential students are required to have a meal plan, with the exception of those students living in the Woods. Residential students (except Woods residents) will be automatically enrolled in the Unlimited +50 Meal Plan. You can view meal plan rates for the 2024-2025 academic year and view details of our current meal plans at DineOnCampus. You will have the opportunity to change your meal plan until 11:59 pm on the 3rd day of classes through the RockyCard Portal. More information and reminders regarding meal plan changes will be sent to your UNC Asheville email during the summer and after the start of the fall semester.
Meal Plan Rates
Residential students are required to have a meal plan, with the exception of Woods residents. Residential students, except Woods residents, will be defaulted to the Unlimited+50 Meal Plan and will have an opportunity to change plans up until the 3rd day of classes each semester.

Summer Housing
The Summer Housing application will open on April 1 and can be found in the Housing Portal within OnePort under “Summer Housing”. Housing for summer 2024 will be all single-room options in the Woods and is manually assigned on a space-available basis by Housing and Residence Life. To apply, students must be enrolled in one or more summer school sessions. Students are only allowed to live in on-campus housing for the summer school terms they are attending. Residential meal plans are not offered or required in the summer. Students may purchase a summer meal plan through the RockyCard Portal. Brown Hall will be open on a limited schedule from June 3 – July 30. There is no on-campus food service available during Maymester.
